There are fruit of the month clubs, wine of the month clubs and even outfit of the month clubs. But if you’re looking for something unique and a bit more classy, you may be interested in the best tea of the month club.
It seems as if a lot of companies have jumped on the subscription box bandwagon. There are over twenty companies offering subscription tea services in the United States alone. How should you know which to choose? Here are a compilation of the best tea of the month club options.
Teabox used to be much more personalized than it now is. It used to be that, upon subscription, users would take a quiz to discover which blends of tea might be the best options for them. The teas were then curated and sent out monthly for tea drinkers to enjoy – and buy full size versions of, of course.
Now, Teabox sends the same subscription package to everyone. Despite that, you still may enjoy the blends they offer. One month’s offerings might include around an ounce each of Rose Drop black, Lavender Earl Grey, Creamy Coconut black, Woodland’s Special green and Winter Frost black.
Subscriptions start at $29.99 and there’s no commitment. You can try the box, then if you don’t like it you can cancel your subscription.
Plum Deluxe is one of the best tea of the month clubs if you don’t want to get too much tea each month. Subscribers can choose between one ounce and two ounces of tea.
When you choose one ounce, you’ll receive a seasonal blend from a partnering company. When you choose two, you’ll receive that blend along with a “surprise” blend. With both subscription options you’ll also get a sample sized tea from the shop.
Subscriptions cost $10 per month for one tea and $16 for two. There are no contracts required, but you’ll pay for your subscription quarterly.
If you’re looking for a tea of the month club that’s a bit more curated, try Blend Bee. With Blend Bee, you’ve got options.
First, you’ll choose between one or two 1.5 ounce bags of tea. Then, you’ll choose the blends you’d like to receive from the selections on the website. Finally, if you like the element of surprise, just let Blend Bee know whether you’d like a green, a black, a white or a decaf tea.
Blend Bee subscriptions include free shipping to anywhere in the United States. They cost $15 and $20 per month for the one and two bag plans, respectively.
Perhaps the best tea of the month club subscriptions to give as a gift is Tea Sparrow. The reason? The lovely packaging.
On the Tea Sparrow website, you’ll be prompted to choose whether the subscription is a gift or for yourself. If a gift, you’ll have the option of simply ordering one box or signing your friend up for a few.
Each month, Tea Sparrow will send you (or your friend) four sample-sized bags of tea. That’s enough for around thirty cups of tea. If you have allergies, special requests or other concerns, Tea Sparrow encourages you to share those on the order form.
For those of you who want to talk to other tea drinkers, Tea Sparrow also hosts a “community” on its website. You don’t need to subscribe to join the community. Just register and start chatting.
Tea Sparrow costs $20 per month to order it personally. However, it costs $25 if you’d like to send a gift.
Tea Box Express
The Tea Box Express concept is a bit different than the tea of the month club offerings already listed. Instead of just offering tea, Tea Box Express calls itself a “tea party in a box.”
When you subscribe to Tea Box Express, you’ll receive four to six little gifts. These gifts include whole leaf teas, of course. Additionally you’ll find cookies and other little treats inside your package.
If you know someone who likes to entertain, Tea Box Express might be the best tea of the month club for you. Of course, you and your friend could share the little teas and snacks that come in the box.
A subscription to Tea Box Express costs $25.50 per month or you can get discounted rates by subscribing for three or six months.
Like Tea Sparrow, we’re impressed with the artsy, simplistic packaging of the Handmade Tea tea of the month club. However, there are some downsides to the service.
First of all, there are no options. As they say, “you get what you get.” The mini subscription, for example, includes 1.5 ounces of tea, which equates to around 15 cups. But there’s a very real possibility that it’s a small batch blend which will never be created again. If you like it, you can’t ever drink it again.
That said, for the adventurous sort the Handmade Tea subscription might be fun. You’ll get to try new teas as they’re shipped to you, and it’s guaranteed to be something different every month.
Subscriptions start at $12.95 for the mini box and the full subscription is $19.95 per month. Full subscriptions include three ounces of tea.
Sips by is definitely one of the best tea of the month clubs, as it’s curated and personalized. It’s affordable, at just $15 per month, and free shipping is included to anywhere in the United States.
Before you subscribe to the Sips by service, you’ll be prompted to take a quiz. You’ll tell the company your reasons for drinking tea, whether it be tea for weight loss or tea for stress.
The questions are quite specific. Do you want nutty, earthy or citrus teas? Do you want to avoid mint teas of other types? How about caffeine? The quiz takes a few minutes to complete. But once you’re finished, you’ll be billed monthly for teas that you’ll likely enjoy.
The Sips by subscription costs $15, and you’ll receive four different blends each month. The box makes 15 cups of tea, but the company suggests that you may re-steep your tea bags to make up to 45 cups
