CCF Tea Recipe
There are manufacturers that sell CCF tea pre-blended. But, as there are only three ingredients, it’s actually quite simple to make on your own.
You can find the ingredients at your local grocery store. But feel free to venture off to your nearest Indian food store. There are usually very small stores that are packed with the most wonderful smelling fresh spices, breads and other items.
To make the tea, you’ll need fennel, cumin and coriander in equal parts. If you have a coffee grinder, take the seeds and gently grind them into a coarse blend – there’s no need to pulverize them.
If you don’t have a coffee grinder, you can use a mortar and pestle. Remember that the scent of the herbs is strong, so it’s best to use a marble mortar as wood will absorb the oils from the seeds. The smell will be difficult to get out.
Once your seeds are ground, scoop ¾ teaspoon of the mixture into a tea cup. Pour about 6 ounces of near-boiling water over them, and allow your CCF tea to steep for five minutes.
For added flavor, you can add honey, lemon or lime to your CCF tea.
